Residents of Musanze district have been asked to reveal the whereabouts of the remains of Genocide victims in order to give them a befitting burial.The call was made by the State Minister in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Albert Nsengiyumva, in Busogo sector, Musanze district, yesterday, at the beginning of 19th commemoration of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.The event was marked by a four kilometre march from the office of Busogo sector to Busogo memorial site.At the site, remains of four Genocide victims were buried. Three of them were recovered from Kinigi sector and the other from Gataraga sector. Thereafter mourners laid wreaths on the grave.Minister Nsengiyumva pointed out that revealing where victims’ bodies were dumped was a sign of respect to them."There are many families that have not yet buried their deceased relatives. Government wants you to intervene and help reveal wherever the bodies were dumped so that we can honour and bury them,” said Nsengiyumva.The minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to helping Genocide survivors’ live decent lives.The Governor of Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe told residents to cultivate a unity and reconciliation culture in order to rebuild the country. The country, he noted, was destroyed by Rwandans and urged them to work hard towards development and avoid any thing that may draw Rwanda to what happened in 1994. "Remembering Genocide is everyone’s responsibilty, nobody should ignore it. Those who lost their relatives should not be left on their own in despair but should be helped especially during this period,” said Bosenibamwe.Aimable Nshizirungu, a resident of Muhoza sector, appealed to government to expedite cases of survivors’ destroyed property."We work hard to achieve more but there are many destroyed houses of vulnerable survivors which need renovation,” he said. This year’s commemoration is held under the theme, "Let’s remember the Genocide against the Tutsi as we strive for self-reliance.”
