Saturday
Rwanda 24-108 Mali
Rwanda U16 girls national team suffered a 24-108 demolition at the hands of Mali in the second game of the 2023 FIBA U16 African Championship held at Salle Jammel in Monastir.
The Malians inflicted a heavy defeat on Rwanda after dominating the game from the first quarter to the last second.
The West Africans were leading the first quarter 30-6 before extending their lead to 63-13 before both teams headed into a halftime break.
In what was apparently a one-sided game, Mali looked unstoppable despite leading by a big point margin in the first two quarters, winning the third quarter 23-4 and 22-7 in the final quarter.
The pair are placed in Group B alongside Morocco and Angola.
Mali are unbeaten in the past two games of the group phase while Saturday’s result was Rwanda’s second defeat after losing 42-53 to Morocco in the opening game on Friday.
Rwandan girls return to action for Game three against Angola on Sunday, July 16.
