APR men volleyball club has started intensive preparations ahead of the Africa Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) men’s club championships, which will be held in Tripoli, Libya, from April 19 to May 1.
As part of their preparations, the national league champions played with the youth side in a build-up game on Friday, and won 3-2 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 and 15-10).
Coach Sammy Mutemi Mulinge believes his team will do a good job in Tripoli.
"I am happy to have this team because they are good players and many of them played in Africa Junior championships which could help us do well in the tournament,” said the former Kenyan international player.
The army side signed a number of new players, including U-21 internationals Bonnie Mutabazi, Barrack Rugira, Yves Mutabazi, Fabrice Nkezabahizi and experienced Adolphe Mutoni.
"I have a good team with a combination of youth and experienced players and I have high hopes in them to do a good job in Africa Club Championships,” he said. Team will depart on April 17 ahead of the event.
