The Kigali Bar Association (KBA), a professional organisation of lawyers yesterday contributed Rfw23 million towards the Agaciro Development Fund. The Fund was initiated last August in a bid to promote the country’s self reliance and economic autonomy. KBA’s president Athanase Rutabingwa, said the Fund was put in place to help Rwandans and that it was the association’s responsibility to contribute towards economic development of the country."We support the development of the country but Agaciro is not the only way we show this. For example, we have ProBono [free] services for those who cannot afford legal fees. We feel that is our way of giving back to society.”A dummy cheque for the amount was handed over to officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic planning led by the Director of Corporate services, Enata Dusenge.Dusenge promised accountability of the Funds and noted that the fund currently has Rfw26.4 billion due to the efforts of various individuals and organisations."We are managing the Fund properly. When the time comes, the money will be released and used in public infrastructure as well as other projects that will promote the economic climate and wellbeing of Rwanda as a country,” she said.
