Getting out of bed has been an uphill task for me the past few weeks. Why? Because of the weather which has changed from being warm to chilly. Leaving the comfort of my home is another issue, because the first thing that hits your face is the biting cold that changes your nose into frozen meat. In order to avoid health risks in this weather, it is important to dress appropriately for the weather and also continue being stylish.Layering Wear the usual clothes that you have planned for the day. But in this weather you are advised to avoid pure cotton and linen because these fabrics retain moisture and will not protect you. Silk is a good choice because it keeps you warm. Long heavy skirts or pants will be proper in protecting your legs against the cold.Sweater Wear a knit sweater or a cardigan on top of your first layer of clothes. A long sleeved sweater helps more in keeping you warm. Avoid sweatshirts with hoods attached, as this can cause too much bulk beneath the layers.BlazerAdd a blazer on top of your sweater. Make sure the blazer is the right size so that you do not squeeze many layers in a small fitting blazer.ScarfAlways wear a scarf around your neck and pull it to cover properly. You may want to tuck it into your coat for added warmth. You can also pull the scarf over your mouth to guard against the cold air.OvercoatIf you have long/short overcoat you can wear one on top of the clothes. This helps especially to people who are walking to work or those going by public means. It also comes in handy when it is raining. It gives you the protection you need against that harsh weather. Hat/capNot many people will wear these, especially women. But if you can wear one, why not wear to retain the heat on your head? The ones with ear muffs are best because they shield your ears as well.Gloves/mittensKeep your hands warm with gloves or mittens. Retaining the warm hands helps your entire body to stay warm. SocksWear a pair of sock every day. Exposing your feet to harsh weather is one way of having a running nose every day.BootsIf you cannot wear boots for one reason or the other, leather-closed shoes should be ideal in this weather. Ladies should avoid wearing open shoes during this time.It is all about covering yourself properly to avoid the nastiness of being sick. Fear not, you can still cover up and look stylish as always.
