Editor,I suggest the massive adoption of Kiswahili in Rwanda as well as all East African Community countries – especially Uganda – for easier communication among people of the region.I remember when I last visited Rwanda back in 2006, I encountered a language barrier when I was trying to talk to people from deep in the countryside. Whereas I was fluent in Kiswahili, English and even had some notion in French, I noticed that most ordinary Rwandans speak exclusively Kinyarwanda. This made our communication extremely difficult. On the other hand, most ordinary Tanzanians cannot communicate in English. Kiswahili is indispensable for our regional cooperation.Mwesiga Mulinda, Dar es Salaam TanzaniaReaction to the story, "Why Rwanda should promote Kiswahili”, (The New Times, April 4)
