STRIKER Meddie Kagere is full of hope his club will win their first silverware in thirteen years by lifting this season’s Primus National Football League title.

The former Mukura striker said that it is very much possible to win the title.

"Right now, all I can say is that we are training hard. We have a chance of winning the league and we will fight until the end of the season and see how things shape up,” 

"The Primus League title is one of the trophies that I want to win. We are in close contention with leaders Rayon Sports and all we need is to win all our remaining matches and hope Rayon Sports falters. We are optimistic and everything is possible,” added Kagere.

Kagere made his mark during the 2010/11 seasons when he finished as the Primus League’s top scorer with 16 goals. He was also the driving force behind Police’s second spot finish that year.

Later that year, he dominated headlines as one of the top players at the 2011 Cecafa Challenge Cup which was held in Dar es Salaam. He finished the tournament as joint top-scorer with five goals.

Since then, he became a regular for Amavubi and for Police. His goals were particularly instrumental in bringing Police to within a whisker of winning the league and MTN Peace Cup last year.

His performances made him a top contender not only for a Police player last season but also for Amavubi national team. 

Police lie second in the league with 41 points, one behind leaders Rayon Sports with six matches remaining until the end of the season on May 25.
