The kick off of the 2013 Women’s African Club Championship has been pushed to Thursday followng poor organisation of the tournament by hosts Madagascar.

It was expected that by Monday evening, organisers would conduct the draw to set way for matches kicking off on April 3rd.

However, this did not taken place and according to word from Madagascar, the draw was expected to be held yesterday evening and matches would kick off today, four days after teams arrived.

Rwanda is represented by APR women club which trounced rivals Rwanda Revenue Authority to lift the national league this year.

Teams have also been limited to one hour training session a day since there is only one training facility and all the teams have to share the same.

The Women’s African Club Championship will be held at Palais de Sport Hall in Antananarivo, Madagascar. It will be the first ever international volleyball competition to be hosted by the island located in the Indian Ocean in the eastern part of the African Continent.

Sixteen teams will be participating in the prestigious event aiming at clinching the lone African ticket at the FIVB Club World Championship next October.  The competition will feature the participation of the major African clubs led by the three time successive champions Prisons who represented Africa three times in the FIVB Club Championship and the last competition runner up Pipeline from Kenya.

Egypt champions Al Ahly who have 5 titles under their name will return back to the scene after missing out last year as they aim at regaining their dominance after their last cup win in 2009.

Algeria will be represented by MB Bejaia as well as GSP Petroliers who won the local league and cup respectively last season.

Among the strong contenders for the title include FAP team from Cameroon who qualified for the semifinal of the last two editions and Kutlwano form Botswana.

The host country will be represented by Stef Auto which previously participated in last edition and Damant. Other participating teams are AS Tanda from Cote d’Ivoire, Les As from Burundi, BGPS (Congo), Water sport (Ethiopia), Manga Sport (Gabon) and Ndejje University (Uganda).
