The U-17 boys’ cricket team manager Emma Byiringiro has expressed his frustrations about the team’s preparations ahead of next month’s ICC/ACA U-17 boys’ tournament.

He told Times Sport yesterday that the team’s preparations have been hampered by the on-going secondary school exams.

"It’s very difficult to have the boys during the course of the week because they are busy doing their exams. So this has limited us to weekends, which is not enough time for them to perfect their game,” he complained.

Rwanda will rub shoulders with East Africa’s cricket giants Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Although the team’s chances against Kenya and Uganda look slim, the team manager Byiringiro says that Tanzania is their main target.

"Kenya and Uganda are favorites but we shall give them a good run for their money. But more certainly, we shall target to beat Tanzania.

"They are ICC associate members but we humiliated them during last year’s ICC U-15 regional tournament and we are looking to do it again with the U-17s this year,” Byiringiro who also doubles as the Rwanda Cricket Association schools development officer added.

The tournament which will run from July 1-5 in Kampala, Uganda will be played on two grounds; Lugogo and Kyambogo.
