Disi, 27 became a victim of harsh conditions when he tripped and fell over, injuring his knee during the 4km men’s cross country race that was held in Bombo, ruling himself out of the remaining part of games.
Despite the race taking place in the morning, athletes from Rwanda and Uganda could not stand the high humid conditions and their Kenyan counterparts took advantage.
The 13km event was taken by Chebon from Kenya who clocked 39 minutes and 55 seconds and he was closely followed by compatriot David Chepterit while Didas Chopa also from Kenya took the 3rd place.
In the 4km race which Disi participated in but failed to finish, Kiprop from Kenya won in 12 minutes and 36 seconds followed by Rotich also from Kenya in 12 minutes and 45 seconds and Uganda’s Chemonges came.
