RWANDA’S FOOTBALL governing body, Ferwafa is in talks with Telecommunication Company MTN-Rwanda to inject Rwf41m into this year’s Peace Cup against Malaria Saturday Sport has learnt.Last week, Imbuto Foundation pumped Rfw97m into the knockout competition to become its main sponsors, while MTN, who have funded it in the last four years, come on board as ‘official partners’, according to Ferwafa’s vice president Raoul Gisanura. If the talks go well as expected, the total sponsorship sum for the tournament will hit a record Rwf138m."We are in talks with MTN so that they continue sponsoring the competition despite having Imbuto Foundation as the main sponsors this year. We must thank our sponsors for coming on board to develop our football. The bigger the budget, the better and more exciting the competition becomes,” said Gisanura."The doors are still open, everyone can come to sponsor this tournament and we are ready to deal with anyone,” he noted.MTN-Rwanda has sponsored the Peace Cup with Rwf51.4m per year since 2009. Also last year, Imbuto sponsored a volleyball tournament to a tune of RWf17m and Rwf11.5 million into a Karate tournament to fight malaria.
