OVER 50 karate players drawn from across the country are in line to secure level 1 ‘Black’ belts and ‘Brown’ belts, which will be offered by Karate Federation [Ferwaka] on Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium.According to Ferwaka’s technical director Guy Rutayisire, the ‘Brown’ [1 kyu] and ‘Black’ belts [shodan] will be given to players holding ‘Blue’ and ‘Brown’ belts respectively."They are set to be refreshed today afternoon [Saturday] on some of the techniques that will be asked on Sunday."The assessment will be done on Sunday and it will be conducted by experts. We are expecting over 50 players, who have confirmed their participation and are ready to earn the two different belts,” revealed Rutayisire, who holds a 4-level Black belt.Some of the top ranked karate players in the country include Jean Sayinzonga and Tharcisse Sinzi, who holds a 5-level black belt [5 dan].Three other players; Barnabe Karamaga, Petit Ndushabandi, Ndarwubatse and Samuel Niragire hold a 3-level black belt [4 dan].National team head coach Russian Ruslan Adamov is expected to lead the examination process.
