A four-day exhibition to showcase activities of the Joint Action Development Forum (JADF) in Kicukiro district opened, Wednesday, at Gikondo Expo Grounds. On display are traditional clothes made by cooperatives, artefacts and services provided by various service providers in the district, including construction companies.The aim of the exhibition is to build partnership towards sustainable development.Opening the exhibition, the Minister of Disaster Management and Refugees Affairs, Seraphine Mukantabana, commended Kicukiro for emerging the best in implementing performance contracts and urged the leaders to keep it up.Advising residents to operate in cooperatives, Mukantabana stressed the role of private sector in development. The government, she said, finds it easier to support people working in groups."The government is watching you, you’re not alone. You should struggle for development of the country and you should be examples to other districts in the country,” she said.Kicukiro district, last year, emerged first in performance contracts.The district mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage, said the exhibition will show the public what is being done in the district. This is the second time the JADF showcases its products to the public.The mayor said the joint action is not only for the people of Kicukiro, but for the general public as well, because it involves various organs aiming at development and success.The vice president of JADF, Perpetue Kamuyumbu, said their primary aim of the exhibition was to show their products to the public, get new ideas, and prove where the weaknesses and strengths are.She urged more people to be part of the programme.
