Editor,This is in reaction to the story, "Leadership Retreat to strategise 11.5% growth”, (The New Times, March 27). We are behind our leaders as they brainstorm on how to achieve the set targets of the he Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS 2). As a concerned citizen, I urge our leaders to focus on how inter sectors coordination can be strengthened.Another important aspect to focus on is how to increase productivity in rural Rwanda. When you analyse, most of rural communities work less than six hours yet 80 per cent of our population are rural folks.The leadership retreat must focus on creating off-farm jobs for the rural population. It will be very difficult to achieve the 11.5 per cent annual GDP growth when 80 per cent of our population work less than six hours. More to that, our leaders must come up with strategies to resettle all Rwandans in settlements ( Imidugudu); this will help us to reduce the costs of providing basic infrastructure to all citizens like clean water, transport, energy, and consolidate land for other economic activities.Our leaders must lead by example; they should visit Imidugudu before they request people to dwell in settlements. Go great leaders of this great nation! We are behind you when you take us in the right direction. May God give you the wisdom and understanding as you take us to the Promised Land of milk and honey that our fore fathers guaranteed us. Peter Katanisa, Kigali-Rwanda
