The ministry of Education has injected Frw 19 million in the finals of this year’s inter-schools sports competition, an official in the ministry has confirmed to Times Sport.

The event that runs from 28th -29th in Huye will enjoy a one million budget increase more than last year’s championship.

Pattern Rwigema, who is in charge of sports in the ministry of education said yesterday that the slight increase was caused by numerous events that were included on this year’s schools sports calendar.

"On top of the usual disciplines, we have also added rugby and net ball and this has increased the number of participants and officials that we are supposed to cater for” he said.

"We expected this year’s budget to be a bit low since transport and accommodation costs in Huye are lower than last year’s hosting venue Rubavu but the addition of these two games  raised the budget” Rwigema added.

Rugby and net ball which have not been included in these competitions for the past years will have all their 8 teams (4 rugby teams and 4 netball teams) and a number of match officials included on the original budget that catered only for football, volley ball, basketball and handball for both boys and girls.
