Rwanda's Foreign Affairs Louise Mushikiwabo is today in Durban, South Africa, where she's representing Rwanda at the BRICS Summit 2013.
BRICS, originally "BRIC" before the inclusion of South Africa in 2010, is the title of an association of emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
This afternoon, Mushikiwabo has attended a preparatory Africa retreat ahead of the BRICS Summit, to be held under the theme, "Unlocking Africa’s Potential: BRICS and Africa Cooperation on Infrastructure”.
At the retreat, chaired by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister and AU chairman Haile Mariam Desalegn, saw leaders discuss objectives and desired outcomes of the partnership between Africa and BRICS.
Meanwhile, after the retreat, Mushikiwabo met with President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, African Development Bank President Dr Donald Kaberuka, Angola's Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Chicoti, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
This is the fifth summit of BRICS.
