Christians who cerebrated the day say it is a good sign for them."We came here to reflect on how Jesus has been kind to us by coming into the world to save us sinners. It is also the beginning of a holy week,” said Peter Nsengiyumva, a Catholic believer from Rwamagana."We are approaching a sorrowful period that Jesus underwent which led to his death ahead of his resurrection, Palm Sunday precedes Easter and as a Christian I should prepare my heart to resurrect with the son of God, Jesus,” he added. Another Christian, Emmanuel Nsanzineza, from Regina Pacis Parish in Remera, said, "Christians are remembering Jesus’ sorrow. It is when he was preparing to be crucified. Today, we remember the day Jews laid their clothes down so that Jesus could pass on them. Those who had no clothes, laid branches in respect him and that is what we are doing to remember that period.”In his sermon at Regina Pacis Parish, in Remera, Jean Baptist Mazarati asked Christians to be strong and have a compassionate heart."We are celebrating Palm Sunday, singing love among us, love with humanity, love with integrity, love with God while being led by the cross of love, we should remember that Jesus came to save us and went back in heaven with a target of what he will become after and he is waiting the best he deserves,” said Mazarati.Pope Francis’s Palm Sunday Homily In his Palm Sunday Homily, Pope Francis said the day was particular to all Christians wherever they may be."Dear young people, present here today, this, in a particular way, is your day, wherever the Church is present throughout the world. So I greet you with great affection! May Palm Sunday be a day of decision for you, the decision to say yes to the Lord and to follow him all the way, the decision to make his Passover, his death and resurrection, the very focus of your Christian lives,” the pope said, calling on Christians to always rejoice in the Lord.
