The national men’s basketball team will start training in early May ahead Afro basketball championship which is slated to run from 15-26 June 2013 in Ivory Coast, according to the head coach.Moise Mutokambari said his team will have preparations for about three weeks so as to put themselves in good position to compete well against Africa’s cream-de-la-cream."I have always believed in early preparations for my teams because it helps me to have a good and long look at all the players and put my ideas across with a well-informed view,” said Mutokambari.Some of the professional players Mutokambali will be looking to have on the team include, Hamza Ruhezamihigo, Kenneth Gasana, Bradley Cameron Curtis, Dan Rugamba, Isom Cedric, Brannon Darrius, and Robert Thomson.In build-up to the continental championships, Rwanda is scheduled to play a friendly game against Africa’s powerhouse Angola either in May or early June.Rwanda qualified for the Afro basketball championship after finishing runners-up to Egypt at the Zone V qualifier held in Tanzania in January. The draws for the tournament are set to be made on March 30.
