ERNEST HABIYAMBERE, the only remaining Rwandan at the on-going African Junior Tennis Championships stormed the semi finals after defeating Ahmed Hossam of Egypt at the Nairobi club tennis court on Thursday.The 14-year-old dominated the quarter final match winning in straight sets of 6-0, 6-1. He will face Ratsimandresy of Madagascar in today’s semi final match. Ratsimandresy oustedMauritius’ Jason Ah Chuen 6-1 6-3 in the last eight.Even though the competition is tough, all is not lost for Habiyambere who still has to compete for positions and marks in the tournament after his compatriots David Uwimana and Olive Tuyisenge were eliminated in the first round.Despite excelling in the singles category, Habiyambere and Jason Ah Chuen of Mauritius suffered second round elimination in the doubles to Tunisian pair of Youssef Dabbebi and Bellalouna 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday.The African championships has attracted players from Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cote D’ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Lesotho, Morroco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and hosts Kenya.
