THE much-hyped "Look at My People” concert, organised by Dark Matter, finally went down on Sunday at Caiman Bar and Restaurant in Kibagabaga.To call it an incredible show would be an understatement! Much of the show’s success is attributed to the team’s efforts and exceptional talent.There were lots of great performances, starting with the 11-year-old rapper, Babou, who awed the crowd with his famous lyrics. The other curtain raisers did not disappoint either, though there was a bit of a problem with sound.But the night’s defining moment was when Dark Matter, a local music group composed of four members; Denis Muganza (Darkecy), Mike Kayihura, Angel Mutoni and Benny Black hit the stage. It was an energetic performance. With their powerful lyrics and commanding stage presence, Dark Matter gave revelers the time of their life. The group’s pianist, Mike, performed "Over the Sun” a song he dedicated to all the ladies at the concert. Before ladies could stop screaming, Dark Matter hit the stage, singing their famous song "Popular” that left the entire crowd cheering hysterically.After the concert, fans still wanted more and Darkecy, the group’s leader, asked his colleagues to return to the stage to perform "That Beat”, a song they recorded two years ago. Dark Matter crowned the evening with a rendition of Bob Marley’s "Turn Your Lights Down Low.” Phillip Ahumuza, a student at National University of Rwanda, said he wasn’t aware that Rwanda had this kind of talent and was amazed by the performances. "The songs had great messages and the fact that the show was simply overwhelming. I was impressed and I will never miss live Hip-hop and Jazz shows ever again.”
