Fourteen clubs, including nine for men and five for women, have registered for the upcoming volleyball league, which is scheduled to start next weekend, according to FRVB Technical Director Christian Hatumimana.The men’s teams include; National University of Rwanda, KIBUNGO Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education –(INATEK), APR, Rusumo High School, St Joseph, Lycee de Nyanza, Groupe Scolaire de Butare (GSOB), Kigali Volleyball Club and Christ Roi de Nyanza.While APR, Rwanda Revenue Authority, Ruhango, St Joseph, St Alloys and Lycee de Nyanza have entered for the women’s league."It’s not a high number but also not so small, especially for the men’s league, but we hope to have one or two more teams registering before the season starts,” Hatumimana told Sunday Sport.Initially, the league was supposed to start this weekend but it was has postponed due to the fact that some clubs have not finalized their registration process.This year’s league will be played on a home and way basis, different from the previous seasons when teams were playing in groups. APR are the defending champions for both men and women title.Energy Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) are the official sponsors of the national league to the tune of Rwf15 million for in two seasons.
