This year’s knockout Amahoro(Peace) Cup starts today with leading clubs facing battles against lower division oppositions.
Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s league leaders, Atraco Fc host second division side Union Sportif at Nyamirambo stadium while Rayon Sport face Nyanza at Mumena while another giant, SC Kiyovu take on Musanze in Shorongyi.
Elsewhere today, Police battles Kibuye at Mironko grounds, Etincelles plays Mukura at Camp Kigali while Electrogaz travels to Ruhengeri for their crucial date against Marines.
AS Kigali’s fixture against Military was called off and the former got a bye to the next phase after the later pulled out to participate in the East African Defence Forces, which started yesterday in Kampala, Uganda.
Meanwhile, defending champion APR plays against second division side Espoir tomorrow in Nyanza.
The military side is likely to be without the injured Boubakary Saddou and Jean Claude Ndoli while the rest of squad is injury free and available for selection.
Saddou strained a leg muscle a fortnight ago while Ndoli injured his hip during the Rwanda’s 0-2 loss to Morocco in the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifier played in Casablanca over the weekend.
The quarter final stage is set for this Saturday while the semifinals will be played on July 1 with the final, as always scheduled for July 4.
