GTV will for the first time be airing a 46664 Foundation event, and it is inviting viewers to watch alongside 46,664 people in London’s Hyde Park, as the world’s most powerful and instantly recognisable figures honour Mr. Mandela marks 90-years.
The celebrations will attract a-list of celebrities from across the world to a star-studded series of celebrations, featuring Will Smith, Eminem, Queen, Leona Lewis, Annie Lennox and Dame Shirley Bassey, Amy Winehouse and many others.
The concert will be broadcasted live as a Friday night special on G Xtra at 20. 30 local time. The veteran statesman, who was elected South Africa’s first black president in 1994, retired from politics nine years ago. But he has continued to campaign for peace and against poverty.
According to the BBC, Mr Mandela flew into Heathrow on Tuesday, and is expected to host a dinner party with celebrities and world leaders including Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, Bill Clinton, the former US President, and Oprah Winfrey, the talk show hostess.
