La Jeunesse vs AS Muhanga AS Kigali vs Musanze Amagaju vs Espoir Rayon Sport marinated their one-point lead at the top of the Primus League after humiliating their archrivals and reigning champions APR 4-0 in a scintillating match played on Saturday at Amahoro stadium. With suspension and injuries depriving APR coach of three key players; Jean Claude Iranzi, Michel Rusheshangoga and Emery Bayisenge, Rayon gave some football tips to their sworn number one enemy in-front of a full house.Papy Kamanzi grabbed a brace, while skipper Aphrodis Hategikimana and Cedric Amissi netted the other two goals in a game that attracted 25,000 full capacity crowd. In the first half, which ended goalless, it was the champions who dominated the midfield battle before losing central defender Heritier Turatsinze and striker Barnabe Mubumbyi through injuries. Eric Nshimiyimana and his players never managed to recover from that setback and paid the ultimate price, suffering their heaviest defeat in the league history. In 2002, Rayon beat APR 4-1 at Amahoro, but they have since struggled to beat their rivals in the last six years or so.Didier Gomes da Rosa’s in-form side returned from the break like a house on fire, and took the lead through Hategikimana, who struck a brilliant volley after receiving an excellent pass from Fuadi Ndayisenga.Amissi added the second on the 57th minute on a counterattack following Jean Baptista Mugiraneza’s failure to control the ball in midfield, allowing Djamal Mwieneza put through the Burundian international, who beat Jean Claude Ndoli with a clever finish.Mwiseneza, who had a fine game set up Kamanzi, who left Ismail Nshutiyamagara crawling to score the third goal on 63rd minute. At this stage, the stadium was almost collapsing as Rayon fans, who dominated the capacity crowd sung, danced, blew vuvuzelas much to the liking of the players, who seemed to enjoy toying with their hated enemies. The Congolese-born-neutralised Rwandan then scored a contender for goal of the season after a well calculated move which involved Hategikimana, Mwiseneza and Amissi on the 72nd minute.APR searched for a consolation but it was too late, Hegman Ngoma and Mugiraneza were the main culprits as they failed to convert three clear chances.Rayon have enjoyed some of the biggest scorelines this campaign, including a 4-0 victory over Marines last month. The win keeps the Blues at the top of the table with 41 points and on the verge of winning their first title under French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa since 2005.Police beat Isonga 2-1 to keep pressure on Rayon. Fabrice Twagizimana and Moussa Hakizimana scored goals for Police.
