Why men make better cooks

IN A WORLD where women come better skilled and experienced, how come many hotels prefer male over female chefs? And this phenomenon is not limited to just the five-star hotels, it is even evident in kitchens at people’s homes. So, why are men giving women a run for their food, so to speak?

IN A WORLD where women come better skilled and experienced, how come many hotels prefer male over female chefs? And this phenomenon is not limited to just the five-star hotels, it is even evident in kitchens at people’s homes. So, why are men giving women a run for their food, so to speak?I think it comes down to the fact that men are naturally better risk-takers than women.  Men are naturally pre-disposed to experimenting things, and aren’t as afraid of failure. We are men, so nobody expects that our food will be extra-ordinary. Most men don’t care anyway. On the other hand, women tend to take possible failure very personally while their everyday cooking routine doesn’t allow them to play and experiment. Men, on the contrary don’t take cooking that seriously. When cooking, men tend to employ their wildest imagination, and sometimes consider jumping behind the stove or lighting the fire as a great game in itself. The fortunate bit about this ‘game’, and what actually makes it a game, is the fact that, as opposed to women, men don’t have to play this game every day. Men never have to care that what they cooked might be more suitable for a cannibals’ than human stomachs. In the event that they have cooked really bad food, men easily shake off the failure and move on.Also, men don’t have to always think about correctly cutting the meat or the right size to which to cut the onions, or even what time to put the meat in the pan. Therefore, they have enough time to play with the food itself. When that moment for the extra step that makes the difference between ordinary and extraordinary food comes, he is ready and willing to experiment. They let their culinary skills to shine.Men don’t cook as often as women. What this means is …well, the cooking in most households is the domain of women. And after some time, they inevitably fall into the routine and prepare meals as if they were working on a factory assembly line. Her main goal is to feed her family, not to create a culinary masterpiece. If the food is good enough and nobody complains that it tastes like a dead vulture, she’s satisfied.Men’s cooking is just the opposite of this. Only men can afford an attitude that when behind the stove, it’s a game. There’s no time pressure and we feel free to experiment and play with spices, seasonings and all ingredients in general.
