The former US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and Everest Capital Founder and Chief Investment Officer Mark Dimitrijevic welcomed President Kagame to the three-day meeting that kicked off yesterday.
On the session dubbed: "An African Success Story,” President Kagame's keynote address will mark the opening of the ‘focus on Africa session’ and will be followed by a moderated discussion with Condoleezza Rice.
The focus on Africa session will also include presentations from Dambisa Moyo, a Zambian, international economist and Dr. Jendayi Frazer, the former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
Speaking on the need for investors to look at emerging markets as more profitable than developed markets, Dimitrijevic said: "the criteria people use to differentiate historically emerging markets from developed markets are disappearing.
"Last year, emerging markets stocks were less volatile than European stocks. Investors look at opportunities market by market. Earnings in emerging markets’ countries are growing faster because GDP in emerging countries is growing faster.”
The meeting’s discussions will dwell on the rise of emerging markets and will explore the increasing investment opportunities in the emerging regions of Latin America, Africa and Asia Pacific.
