On March 8, which is also the International Women’s Day, music lovers will enjoy an exciting evening of uplifting and inaugural performances by Injyana Orchestra Rwanda at the Christ Church Rwanda – CCR in Gacuriro at 7pm. The free concert will provide an evening of musical celebration of the beauty of Rwanda, recognising its dancing progress, courageous spirit and God given blessings.The band will perform works by Bach, Dukas, Tchkovsky and a special tribute preceding Rwanda’s 19th Genocide under the guidance of Lance Gaskill, the music director at Kigali International Community School (KICS).IOR is comprised of both international and Rwandan students, primarily from the advanced band of Kigali International Community School. It also includes members of KICS’ ensemble program among others. Student musicians from the surrounding region are also part of IOR.The 40-member multi-cultural, multi-generational ensemble produces an exciting blend of rhythm, harmony, culture and celebration. Ensembles and solos including the music of Brahms, Mozart and Beenthoven will be presented.
