The Inspector General of South Sudan Police Service, Ge. Pieng Deng Kuol Arop, has reaffirmed commitment to the cooperation agreement signed with Rwanda National Police.Gen. Pien reiterated the commitment while visiting Police headquarters in Kacyiru, yesterday, where he discussed various security issues with his Rwandan counterpart, IGP Emmanuel Gasana as part of the bilateral cooperation.The two institutions entered into an agreement in May, last year, to join efforts to combat cross-border crimes and promote bilateral cooperation, mainly in capacity building."As a new country, we also need to share many experiences with our friendly sister countries, especially Rwanda. We think we are going to benefit a lot because there are many lessons that can be learnt from Rwandan National Police,” Pien said  Among the areas of cooperation are training in road safety, investigation, intelligence basics, IT and communication skills, public order management, junior supervisory course and training of trainers.Gasana said the two institutions have worked together in various fields such as training and exchange programmes that involve "sharing of timely information to track and combat transnational organised crimes.” Rwanda National Police, Gasana said, has trained more than 20 South Sudan Police Service officers. "We intend to send a team of 18 officers to South Sudan for a year to give them training on ground,” IGP Gasana said.
