Fans went gimmie as Jamaican superstar Beenie Man touched down at Kigali International Airport, yesterday afternoon, ahead of the closing ceremony of the 2013 Pan African Dance Festival – FESPAD.The ‘Gimmie Gimmie’ singer arrived alongside his band and manager.While people, who went to receive Beenie Man at the airport, tried to whisk him away quickly, the Grammy Award-winning artiste insisted on greeting and posing for photos with some of his Rwandan fans.Known by his fans as the king of the Dancehall, Beenie Man is set to perform at Amahoro stadium in Remera, this evening.Beenie Man, whose real name is Anthony Moses Davies, later attended a press conference at the Kigali Serena Hotel, where he is booked alongside his band.Born on the 22nd of August 1973, Beenie Man ventured into music at the age of 5 and released his debut single ‘Too Fancy’ in 1981 at the age of 8.The Grammy Award winner is currently riding high with his songs, such as, "I’m drinking rum”, "Be My Lady”, "See Mi Style’ and "Once a Year”. Other stars expected to grace the eighth edition of FESPAD include Nigerian artiste Ice Prince and Kenya–based Burundian singer Kidumu.Princess Priscilla, Jay Polly and Dream Boys are among the local musicians expected to share stage with the stars.
