To some people intimacy is considered extremely private and public display of affection is therefore considered inappropriate and even unethical especially n the African cultural setting. Society Magazine’s Martin Bishop asked a few individuals what they thought about PDA. I wouldn’t publicly makeout on the street, but I don’t have a problem expressing love to my partner.Nadege Uwamahoro, Fashion DesignerI see nothing wrong with it; my fiancée and I kiss in public all the time. Obviously it is not full-on, tongue-down-the-throat kisses, but yes we do. Augustine Gatete, JournalistYes I can, though I don’t usually do because some ladies don’t like being kissed in public. Edwin Butare, KanombeI do it all the time and I’ve never really felt uncomfortable. I think it’s all about your attitude. With the right attitude you can get away with even things that would ordinarily be frowned upon. Axel Kay, ArtistNever! I’m a Muslim woman and our faith doesn’t encourage anything close to PDA.
