Class with sass is back! For those women who like to make a bold, power statement, make sure you have your leather ensemble on hand. Leather always comes in fashion cycles every few years: each time with a new spin. This season, leather skirts and dresses have been peeking out in the fashion world. If you’ve been holding on to one for the last several seasons, now is the time to pull it out of the back of your closet. If you don’t own one quite yet – make the splurge. It’ll be worth it. Jason Wu, the designer ever famous for dressing Michelle Obama at not one, but two inaugural balls, has crafted several leather creations in his collection this season. To take a play off of the traditional black leather skirt, he crafted a tiered, almost circle skirt with a texturized pattern. He also took the look to a new level with a soft, butter yellow leather pencil skirt, one more suited for wear during the day and in warmer climates. Luxury fashion house Burberry took the leather skirt on a more powerful edge, and had a knee-length, form fitting, high wasted black leather skirt in its collection. Also on the coloured leather theme, Marc Jacobs crafted an A-line short orange leather skirt, where New York favorite Alice + Olivia proved to be the ultimate playful: with a lilac leather pleated skirt -- a favourite amongst the fashionistas. The bold and beautiful are wearing the trend with pride. Ever sassy Kim Kardashian has been seen in a variety of leather skirts, the favorite being a tennis style mini paired with black leather boots, a casual t-shirt and gold necklace. Victoria Beckham, wife of football star David Beckham and former Spice Girls member wore a black pencil skirt with Christian Louboutin booties and a black blouse. America’s sweetheart and new mom, Drew Barrymore, paired a purple leather skirt with a casual t-shirt and overlaid with an olive green open vest. For the leather trend, catering to your personality is the key to pulling off the style. If you’re looking for a day trend, pair with a plain t-shirt and sandals. If you want to wear for a power look in the work place, wear a black or dark brown pencil skirt that reaches your knees, and pair with booties or clean high heels.
