The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Onesphore Rwaje, has expressed concern over youth who he said sit back and wait to be provided for even the smallest and easiest needs. Rwaje made the remarks during the opening of a four-day conference that brought together youths from member countries of the East African Community under the Boys and Girls Brigade umbrella, a worldwide or international church-based organisation which the aims at, among other things, promoting discipline and preaching the word of God as one way to lead others.He said the youth must take the lead in starting up income generating activities as one way to show commitment and determination before seeking support."Young people are much challenged today; and as you turn to the church, it is equally important that you come up with initiatives that will enable you to progress,” said Rwaje.Rt Rev. Patrick Tugume, who led the team from Uganda, echoed a similar message saying that working hard by members of the organisation in Uganda had enabled them to host various conferences which directly benefited the group."We have been at the forefront, especially in bringing together members from the region, but this is attributed to the capacity that we are now able to host such regional and international conferences,” he said.Among other activities, members of the Boys and Girls Brigade come up with business projects or proposals they sell to the global team of the organisation.
