"MTN Rwanda wants to sponsor the Cup once again but we are yet to agree on the figures. We feel the tournament should be given a bigger sponsorship package better than last year,”"If we fail to agree on the figures [which Gahonzire never revealed], we shall resort to plan B. We are in talks with someone else but it will depend on how our talks with MTN Rwanda progress,” Last year, MTN Rwanda sponsored the 2012 edition with a sponsorship package worth Rwf51.4 million.MTN Rwanda has confirmed its desire to support the 18th edition of the 2013 Peace Cup edition which gets underway this weekend with the preliminary round. "We had a meeting over the sponsorship of the Peace Cup edition. We exchanged proposals and though we have not agreed on the figures, we hope to finalise everything before the close of business on Wednesday," MTN Rwanda Coordinator of Sales and Marketing Alain Numa told Times Sport. This year’s edition starts on February 23. The defending champions APR face second division side Sun Rise’ rivals and last year’s runner-ups Police will face AS Muhanga while Rayon Sport will take on Rwamagana. SC Kiyovu face Musanze while Isonga face Marines in other crucial matches. The final matches of the tournament will be played on the 4th of July with the winner earning an automatic slot to compete in the 2014 Caf Confederation Cup.APR FC beat Police FC 2-1 to lift the MTN Peace Cup title for a seventh year running.
