Nigerian striker Mbaoma set to join APR

Super Eagles forward Victor Mbaoma has agreed to join Rwanda Premier League champions APR, according to reports.

The former Enyimba star is reportedly on his way to Kigali to finalize everything with APR as he looks to sign a two-year deal. The 27-year-old previously played for the Remo Stars and Akwa United.

Mboama was playing for Qizilqum Zarafshon in Uzbekistan after parting ways with USM Alger from Algeria. He rose to fame while playing for Enyimba FC in his native Nigeria

In 2021, Mbaoma made his debut in the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Mexico. He also featured as a substitute against Ecuador.

APR is also looking for the signature of Cameroonian forward Apam Assongwe while Ugandan striker Taddeo Lwanga has been in Kigali for trial and medical tests.

The military side won seven league titles and two peace cups in domestic competitions but failed to make it into the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

Last season, they were eliminated in the second round of the CAF Champions League. In 2020, they crashed out of the CAF Champions League in the first round.
