Dear editor,

Mugabe remains the unique leader of the century on the African continent. He is a man who has maintained old lieutenants, who helped him to fight off the white colonialists in his country.

There is no doubt that the old man served his country diligently from the time of independence. He is now making bigger mistakes.

He has been in  power for long under the ZANU-PF ticket. There is no doubt that he is a clever man. You can be a great man with great mistakes. His undoing however, is the people around him, mainly the so called old combatants.

They do not want to him to release power because their grip on the economy will be forgotten. You know after the expulsion of white farmers, the old fighters took a lion’s share of the farms that were given to black Zimbabweans.

I do not see MDC leaving all the riches in those people and they don’t see it that way either, if they get power.

Mugabe is therefore caught in that kind of dilemma and is failing to come out of it. The old guards therefore take the biggest blame compared to the one we would put on the old president.

Unfortunately, the country is real sitting on a time bomb and unless African leaders come in to help, it will soon be in complete ruins.

It is wrong and has been common of African leaders (AU) to wait to act when it is too late. So please help Zimbabweans.
