LAST WEEK while at a friend’s house, I was writing some notes about a project we had to work upon. I left the book on the table and moved out to check on what I was cooking.Chloe, my friend’s daughter then picked my pen and started to draw in my notebook. She drew a stick figure of a girl, shaded it’s head, drew the earings as well. She put all her attention to it. As soon as she felt she had done her best and finished her art work. Chloe could not even wait for me to come back or even imagine that I would be furious and angry about what she had done in my note book. As, if to say, ‘’I am great,’’ Chloe came running to the kitchen shouting on top of her voice. To her the distance seemed too long to where I was. As soon as she reached, she said with a lot of joy,’’ aunt, aunt, see, I have drawn mummy, she has a lot of hair and even wearing her red earrings,’’ even when everything was in blue ink.Ignoring the fact that, she had used my notebook, I focused on appreciating her….wow, mummy is so beautiful, and the drawing says it all, I told her.I started to think over it, Chloe had taken her time to draw and shade her mum. I imagined the pleasure she put into the creation of her master piece.Children too just like adults need to be appreciated. This makes them feel great and encouraged; knowing someone loves and appreciates them.
