Dear editor,
When we first had of the program of community policing, we were all smiles expecting some unnecessary evils to be checked forthwith.
But the process seems to be too slow to make a desirable effect. There are some common crimes committed in society and unless they are stopped we put our communities in danger.
These crimes include stealing, fighting, drug abuse, etc. We actually expected the program to uproot such issues as it has in plan a good workable method.
The best method to catch a thief as the local Kinyrwanda saying goes is to involve him or her. This is what community policing is all about.
I therefore demand the concerned authorities to tell us why it (community policing) is taking so long to start. We are suffering in villages with lazy people who only wait for darkness to come and take our hens, bananas, etc.
The small animals we keep are of great importance to us and no family can be affected by malnutrition or hunger, when it has the small birds (hens) and animals that some neglect. In fact the government should make it a policy to give each family such animals and birds as one way of fighting malnutrition and the general poverty in rural and semi-urban areas of the country.
Implement the program please because we want to develop and you should not allow lazy people to keep us behind by stealing our property.
