The Minister of Trade and Industry, Francois Kanimba,  has said the government will do all it takes to make the Akagera National Park meet international parks’ standards. He explained that this would involve construction of access roads to the park, hotels for accommodation, as well as restocking the park with wild animals.Akagera Management Company partners with Rwanda Development Board and African Parks to manage the park.The minister said his tour aimed at assessing managerial programmes and issues that rose after the commencement of fencing of the park.Kanimba emphasised that fencing must be complete soon, and that poachers destroying the fence would face the law.He added that activities inside the park that endanger wild life conservation should not be allowed to go on."The fishing that is going on should stop if it is endangering the park, I am optimistic that few issues remaining will be handled forthwith.”Jes Gruner, the Akagera Park manager, said there is need to fully implement the tourist development plan.The Akagera Park is the most prominent Savanna reserve in Rwanda.
