Semi-final

Algeria   vs  Tunisia (1st semi-final)
Kenya     vs  Egypt (2nd semi-final)

Rwanda has been reduced to mere participant at the 2007 Women’s African Nations Championship that is being staged at Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya.

The debutant has arguably registered one of the groups’ worst performances.

On top of failing to win a single group game, Rwanda could not even win a single set after losing all her games in straight sets.

With the exception of Egypt in Group B, the Rwandan team had room to make its presence felt against the likes of Tunisia, South Africa and Senegal but it could not live up to its expectations.

After Saturday’s defeat against Egypt, Rwanda’s head coach Antoine Sebalinda was happy with the participation in the African competition despite losing all his four matches.

"We have learned how high level volleyball is played. We need to improve our reception and backline defense if we are to pull off better performances in the future,” Sebalinda noted.

Meanwhile, the championship entered the semi-final stage yesterday with Algeria playing against Tunisia while Kenya were up against Egypt in the second semi final.

The winner of the week-long tournament qualifies for the 2007 FIVB World Cup in Japan.
