Editor,This is with reference to Arthur Asiimwe’s opinion, "The daunting task ahead for RPF cadres,” (The New Times, February 14).Similar to the so many examples we have set to many fellow African brothers and sisters in different arenas of state life, let us also set an example on how the presidential mantle can be passed on to another person without derailing or hampering the progress we have so far achieved. As President Paul Kagame has made so many wonderful choices, during his tenure, that have made this country successful, let him do his last wonderful act as a sitting president by proposing the best successor from his winning team.Sabin, Kigali ************************Editor,I think our president has done a great job. As you said, he is highly admired across the globe. I am just worried that some self-centred individuals want to ruin his legacy, when they start bringing out the issue of amending the constitution to extend President Kagame’s term.Africa has lacked mentors just because sitting presidents do not want to leave power. I want to see our president leave a legacy similar to that of Nelson Mandela of South Africa, the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere of Tanzania and Kenneth Kaunda.
