Season one ended with Emily Thorne (the real Amanda Clarke) discovering that her mother was still alive and that her father had kept the secret in order to protect her. On discovering her mother is alive Emily postpones her revenge and decides to do everything in her power to find her mother.  However, she doesn’t realise that finding her mother will open doors of her troubled past and painful memories. Emily discovers that the Graysons had a hand in her mother‘s disappearance. In this same season, the Graysons as usual are faced with unexpected events and they have to stick together for the family to withstand the change.
