HOW CAN WE ADDRESS PREGNANCIES IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS?

Sex education is key to prevent unwanted pregnancies in schools. Sex education is key to prevent unwanted pregnancies in schools. Also the schools must bring back what was previously called ‘’ Cahier de communication’- a notebook with the daily report on the schoolchild‘s discipline. It is sent to the parents to help them know and follow the discipline of their children. - Vedaste Karuranga, Student in KIE. Parents must closely watch the daily schedule of their children. This means to know when the class lessons start and when they end. By knowing all of these, a child cannot deceive the parent that they are at school when they are not. -Collette Mukabwana, Businesswoman from KanombePreventing pregnancies in schools is only on the shoulder of the school girls. Those girls must think well and plan for their good future. Parents and teachers must have a role, but if the girl child does not have conscience or does not want to change or always disobeys, the problem of pregnancies will always remain. - Eugenie Mukangamije, from remera, KigaliParents are always busy looking for money to make ends meet.
