Hundreds of Rwandans are marching in Kigali this afternoon to express their anger against the recent decision by the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), which overturned the guilty convictions of two former cabinet ministers, setting them free.

Today’s demonstration comes days after some Genocide convicts who served under ‘genocidal’ government for the better part of their 100-day blood-soaked realm also raised concerns.

The demonstration was organised by IBUKA, an umbrella organisation for Genocide survivors’ associations.

The two ministers whose 30-year sentences were overturned are Justin Mugenzi who headed the trade docket and Prosper Mugiraneza, the former minister of public service.

A statement from IBUKA, signed by the acting executive secretary Naphtal Ahishakiye, urges Rwandans to attend the march against what it described as the worst ICTR decision tantamount to revisionism and negation of the Genocide.

The march scheduled from 1.30 pm is to begin from Kimihurura roundabout in Kigali to the ICTR liaison offices in Remera.
