There is no better way to show your edgy, rocker, independent woman inner strength, than to add some rocker bling to your ensemble. Studs are both a loved and hated accessory—often looking too harsh, or used on androgynous leather jackets. But it is making a strong comeback this season, with a new twist of coupling femininity to make it a must have in your closet. This season, studs are coupled with softer tones, particularly staying away from black. Belgian-American designer Diane von Furstenberg, famous for the wrap dress, crafted a beautiful cropped, high crew neck white leather jacket with diamond silver studs. Elizabeth and James, fashion label founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, crafted a chiffon, sleeveless top with studded bib. American designer Cynthia Steffe created a beautiful pacific blue shift dress with figure sliming studded lines down the sides and across the neckline. Aidan Mattox, the label fusing glamour and edge, designed a peach chiffon sweetheart neckline dress with studs in a garden pattern. Hollywood’s stars have been picking up this edgy trend. American actress Ginniffer Goodwin recently wore a blue chiffon Jenny Packham dress with embellished collar and cuffs. She paired it with sky high black ankle sandals and a Chanel camden clutch. Singing sensation Miley Cyrus, also known by the character she made famous Hannah Montana, wore a breathtaking full length Temperely London dress with studded bodice to this year’s Golden Globes held a few weeks ago. With her newly cropped pixie cut, she looks far matured from her Disney days.  Teen loved actress Demi Lovato wore a form fitting gold studded dress with oversized silver bangle and elevated platform heels. While Anna Kendrick, side-kick in the Twilight series and Oscar nominated for Up in the Air, wore skinny black jeans with high mary-jane shoes paired with a pale chiffon tank adorned with organized studs. The trick for wearing studs this season is to contrast the edgy stud style with more feminine elements. Try wearing the studs on softer fabrics: like chiffon and satin. Stay with lighter colors, staying away from blacks.  Make sure to wear simple makeup, no harsh red lipstick or dark eyes. Also best when paired with very simple accessories; keep the look minimalistic. That’s the fashion scoop for this week. Got a thought? Trend? Style you hate? Send it my way.
