Music has always been part of our society from time memorial. It has passed through various stages and continued to evolve to become what it is today.

In Rwanda all young people who believe they can sing, go at it. New albums are launched every other day by ‘upcoming artists’ who have unique talents.

Original contemporary Rwandan music as well as imitative western style music is the order of the day.

Behind all the new releases there is always someone who puts the music together; the producer in the recording studio. He/she blends the musician’s voice with various tunes, trebles and sound analogues to make a song proper.

Musician and studio owner, Julius Karisimbi is one such producer. "In Rwanda there are so many talented musicians but the only thing that stops their music from spreading is the poor production”, he said.

Through the success of his two already launched gospel albums, ‘Mwami Yesu’ in 2006 and ‘Committed’ in 2007, he was motivated to put up ‘Jah Bless Recording Studio’.

He believes that Rwandan artists will no longer have to travel all the way to neighbouring countries just to have their music produced.

This provides a huge cut on the hardships of releasing a song and all the unnecessary expenses involved.
"Rwandan music is the only one of its kind and it has to extend beyond its borders and reach international levels.

The issue of quality is of paramount importance,” Karisimbi added.

Just like any other artist with a good heart for Rwanda, Julius Karisimbi believes that music is one of the greatest ways of reaching out to different people.

It is a source of entertainment, education and healing as well.
