Spoken Word at Manor Hotel today

For any poetry lover or art in general, all roads lead to the Manor Hotel in Nyarutarama today for the Spoken Word monthly episode organised by Spoken Word Rwanda.  The event, which will run with the theme Guilty Pleasures, starts at 7.30pm and ends at 10.30pm.

For any poetry lover or art in general, all roads lead to the Manor Hotel in Nyarutarama today for the Spoken Word monthly episode organised by Spoken Word Rwanda.  The event, which will run with the theme Guilty Pleasures, starts at 7.30pm and ends at 10.30pm.Diana Mpyisi, one of the organisers, says, "People should come expecting to witness some amazing poetic talent from Rwandan youth, fusing poetry with live band music.” Spoken word was started two years ago with a vision of bringing people together to celebrate the expression of self through poetry, storytelling, hip hop, beat boxing, song and other powerful avenues of self expression.Since its launch, theorganiers have made sure that many people get a feel of the Spoken Word by taking it to different places around the city. Mpyisi says the poetry is recited by people from diverse backgrounds, ranging from secondary school students, performing artists, young professionals and visiting foreigners.In order to appear on the performance list of the night, one should send their specifications to spokenwordrwanda@yahoo.com. The recitals and performances will be in Kinyarwanda, French and English. Entrance is free to all.
