Dear editor,

It would be sheer madness not to applaud the national soccer team ‘Amavubi’ after their impressive start to the 2010 World Cup/African Cup of Nations campaign.

Despite all the pressure and criticism that the team underwent just before the campaign start, they have blossomed to one of their best ever start with three wins in as many games.

And although three points against Mauritania were within reach, victories against Ethiopia and Morocco came as a shock.

Rwanda is now at the helm of Group 8 with nine points but like football statistics have proved in the recent past, it is not over until it’s over, so Rwanda should take heed.

The Amavubi stars’ coach Tucak Blanco is very aware that the journey is still long and that Rwanda’s chances of a 2010 appearance in Angola (CAN) depend on how she will fair in games to follow.
