A farmer, from Musanze in the Northern Province, Laurentine Nyirakuberwa, has won an exotic cow during the first Airtel Rwanda campaign dubbed, Birahebuje draw in Kigali. Nyirakuberwa said the milking cow would ease her family financial pressures, adding that they will save the money they have been spending on buying milk. Airtel opened shop in Rwanda about a year ago.Brian Kirungi, the firm’s legal and regulatory manager, said the promotion was aimed at thanking subscribers, who have been royal to the network."We are recognising our customers who have been with us since we joined Rwanda market last year,” he said during the draw. The campaign ends in March and will see clients win several prizes, including a house, exotic cows, laptops, mobile phones and shopping vouchers.Kirungi noted that the draws give equal chances to subscribers to win regardless of their location or status.Since Airtel’s launch early last year, the telecom sector in the country experienced stiff competition that saw a drop in both voice and data tariffs. This gave subscribers more choices, which sector experts believe will foster ICT use, mainly in rural areas.
