NORTHERN PROVINCE 

Gicumbi—A thousand members of Rwandese Patriotic Front (RPF) of Nyarutarama cell conducted grass-roots elections.

The elections kicked off on Sunday September 9, to elect women and youth representatives at Midugudu village level.
There are ten villages in Nyarutarama cell alone.

A Committee of seven RPF representatives, comprising of the President, Vice-President and Secretary were successfully elected.

Heavily contested elections took place at Rugandu and Mukeri villages, in which Janet Mutuyimana narrowly beat Chantal Musabyimana with 54 votes against 53 votes for the post of Presidency at Rugandu village.

At Mukeri village , Flora Kampundu managed to beat Mediatrice Nyirahabineza with 57 votes against 55 votes for the post of Presidency.

Nyarutarama cell is a largely middle and upper class neighborhood of Byumba town and is home to various NGOs operating in Gicumbi and Rulindo Districts.
