Marines’ transfer disputes made sure that National basketball league ties involving APR and Marine, and Espoir and Marine could not be played.

The highly-anticipated clashes that had been scheduled for Saturday and Sunday respectively had to be called off by the national basketball federation (Ferwaba) after complaints from the Burundi basketball federation.

It is said that Marines has failed to come to terms with the Burundi basketball federation about transfers of three players.

"It would be wrong for us (Rwanda basketball federation) to let Marines play with players who are not legally signed so we called off these games. We are looking into the situation and we ready to help the club in any way that we can,” Ferwaba’s secretary general Jean Lucien Mugabo noted.

Marines who toppled CSK A to last year’s league title and have already registered two wins on the road in the 2008 campaign are top contenders for this year’s title.
